Kristin Kendall is a progressive, internationally recognized artist whose primary objective is creating realistic representations of the human figure and landscapes. She was born and raised in Powell, TN and currently resides in Knoxville where she provides private lessons and practices art full time. Her formal training comes from Carson Newman College where she earned her B.A. in Art with an emphasis in graphic design. Eventually realizing her skill should be taken advantage of and shared, she received her certification to teach art K-12 from Lincoln Memorial University in 2011.
Kendall is a member of the Portrait Society of America through which her work has been internationally recognized. She continues to disclose her art on local, regional, and national levels through exhibits and competitions, as well as fulfill her passion for capturing the likeness and essence of people by commissioning portraits.
The conducive combination of her inherited creativity and long-lived interests in architecture and design have influenced her art with imagination, detail, and precision. Her work speaks for itself, capturing the simplicity, intricacies, and refinement of every day life. "I don't believe art should always be something that involves an intense, thoughtful approach. If I'm walking through life and notice a moment in time, the fact that I notice this moment makes it something intriguing enough to transform into a piece of art. Re-creation is liberating to me, and the process of reproducing this moment on a surface, with my own hand, allows me to see it from a completely different perspective. Although I enjoy creating pieces with open-ended content, the primary goal for my clients and audience is as simple as giving them something intrinsic and that provokes positive emotion."
