About

After working for small companies since 1998, I want to help other small businesses on a budget with the skills I have acquired.

I attended graphic design school in 1997 and took my first job designing a product book for a newspaper tube manufacturer, those plastic boxes attached to the mail box they put papers in rather than tossing them out in the rain. After I complete school I went to work as an advertising assistant doing trade shows, planning national ads for franchised businesses and doing internal catalogs. I was offered a job with a local trade magazine publisher doing all of the layout and print prep for several agriculture magazines. I worked with editors for stories and pictures, designed ads, put an entire magazine together, packaged the files and sent to the service provider for print several times a month. Those were pre-digital days when plates were made and mistakes were costly. Thus, I have a very good eye for detail. In 2003 I made a move to a bigger city and started a job at a machinery distributor as their advertising manager. I created their website in Dreamweaver, did their catalogs in PageMaker (now called InDesign) and all of their fliers that they would send to customers about each product. I would sometimes edit manuals, and also would take photos of the products. In 2008 I went to school for an accounting degree as a back-up as businesses struggled and the marketing department was first to be scaled back. I became the company’s bookkeeper and continued to do the graphic design and advertising. In 2009 I went to work for a company affiliate that had been impressed with my work after my current employer had closed due to a death in the family. I continue to do the marketing, design, web admin, photography, and also toe bookkeeping and office managerial skills. I have a desire to do more creative projects and wish to help other small businesses on a budget get quality materials to keep their overhead low. I have skills in many programs, Adobe Suite with emphasis in InDesign, Acrobat and Photoshop.

Work Terms

Each job will be done on a case by case basis depending on the amount of detail required. Some can be done quickly if materials and directions are supplied. If it requires more in-depth art additional time will be needed to complete. Files accepted are jpg. tiff, raw, at actual size 300 dpi for print and 150dpi for web. Any other sizes I can analyze and report on the usability. If using a file for print and it is low res the final outcome will not be as quality. I can recreate a similar file at small additional cost. Files supplied in a MSFT program will need to be recreated most often. It can be used as a base and guideline but all final design work will be saved as a PDF format. For an additional cost I can suppled a packaged file with all links and fonts for service provider or for future modification. I will maintain the right to refuse any work that is deemed illegal or if the demands are unreasonable or previously agreed upon.
