I hail from Des Moines, Iowa, but worked in Hollywood for nearly a quarter century--12 years in video postproduction, and another 12 years in design and animation, mostly for DVD/Bluray menus and bonus materials. Besides showbiz, I have a deep love for history--especially locally, having produced 2 museum shorts, a series of shorts on endangered buildings, and a full-length documentary on the lost movie theatres of my town. I especially love taking old photographs and converting them to what I call "faux footage", but I nearly equally enjoy rotoscoping, animating others' art and graphics, creating TV spots, and bringing static logos to life. I've worked on such diverse projects as animated Minions shorts for Universal, bonus segments for the "Muppets" movie, an entire "Batman: Mad Love" motion comic, interstitial segments for video games, animated personal stories for State Farm, and an interactive gallery of "Night Gallery" paintings for a DVD box set. Clients have included MGM, Universal, Disney, Sony, Columbia, State Farm, Meredith, JC Penney, MetLife, and many others.
Work Terms
I tend to work weekdays, communicating mostly via email, though I do phone when needed, and I work out of my home office 90% of the time. I invoice upon completion of major work, generally with 3 rounds of minor changes allowed. And I operate as a 1-man LLC.
