About

U.S. English Chicago Style Editing Skills Test (For Writing Professionals) May 19, 2014 Passed

Stephen L. Dalton is a freelance writer and editor, who writes articles, blogs, and short stories. Stephen has a degree in journalism from the University of Maryland and is currently pursuing another degree in Information Technology.

He is a certified U.S. English Chicago Style Editor.

Stephen is a retired US Army First Sergeant; in his 28 years in the military he traveled to 18 countries and 38 of the United States.

Since he is retired, he has a lot of time to devote to you and your project. However, if you need something done right away, he will prioritize it for you.

Stephen says, Plagiarism is stealing and I will NOT compromise my values for money! I use Copyscape.com and plagium.com and provide screenshots to avoid questions of impropriety.

Work Terms

I prefer to write and edit using a flat rate, hourly wages inhibit my ability to truly craft my work. I am very thorough and may read through my work three or four times before going final. Especially editing, I read through the project thoroughly before I even start editing to familiarize myself with the story and its characters. I use Word to track changes and then go back and accept each change individually to ensure it fits the story, its characters and timeline. That can be particularly important in a non-fiction. I will send each completed chapter to the author in both versions, with the tracked changes and without. This allows them to see what changes were made, so they can choose what to keep and what to discard.
