About

Delivering a polished product is part of my DNA. My attention to detail guarantees a project delivered on time and on budget.

My nearly 44-year career as a geologist – when not interrupted by industry downturns – has focused on managing operational aspects of exploration for gold and uranium. In particular, the emphasis has been on efficient execution of core and RC drilling programs, and data management and compilation. My career trajectory has involved 5 salient periods:

• The uranium years (1972-1982) when I used my fluency in French to work in and around uranium environments in France, Africa (Niger) and the U.S. for both the French A.E.C. and Marathon Oil Company;
• The juggling years (1983-1987), when I began intermittent consulting work while acquiring a teaching certificate in Secondary Science;
• The dedicated years (1988-1997), when I worked continuously for Santa Fe Pacific Gold as the lead contract geologist responsible for managing much of the development drilling.
• The diversion years (1998-2003), when economic downturns dramatically narrowed my options and diverted me into teaching Unix for Sun Microsystems and a variety of high school subjects for a charter high school in Fallon, Nevada
• The resumption years (2004-2016), when I was able to fully re-engage my passion for geology at 4 more gold projects: Pinson, 2004-2006; Tonkin, 2006-2007; Hycroft, 2007-2009; and Mineral Ridge, 2010-2016.

I formally retired from active mineral exploration in January, 2016, and turned my attention to developing a second career as an online freelancer in editing, writing, translating and, yes, project management.

My lifelong avocation is reading (science, technology and history), and recent interests have focused on the archaeology and architecture of pre-Roman human cultures, especially in the Neolithic.
