Call Waiting Assistant (Patent Pending)

 

An app with the following features for iPhone:

 

1. When the user dials a number, a button with "CWA" text appears on the dial screen

 

2. If the responder asks the caller to hold, the caller touches the CWA button to activate Call Waiting Assistant (CWA)

 

3. Upon activation, CWA: 

3.1. Mutes the phone speaker and microphone

3.2. Changes CWA button to "Cancel CWA" 

3.3. Starts to monitor the incoming audio

3.4. During monitoring, CWA continually records a short period of the incoming audio signal and analyzes it for spoken words, music, or periods of silence

 

4. Whenever the change in incoming audio points to end of call waiting, CWA:

4.1. Unmutes the speaker and microphone

4.2. Notifies the user

 

5. The signs that CMA uses to identify the end of call waiting include:

5.1. thank you (for waiting)

5.2. hello 

5.3. hi 

5.4. sir 

5.5. mam 

5.6. An audio signal such as a beep that may come to notify the end of call waiting.

5.7. A person talking after a long silene

5.8. A change in the tone of the voice announcing information or advertising during the    call waiting 

 

6. Notification options include: 

6.1. Turning on the phone display 

6.2. Beep

6.3. Vibration 

6.4. Flashing phone light 

6.5. The responder’s voice

 

7. After notification:

7.1. CWA becomes ready for repeated use through the call

7.2. Cancel CWA button changes to CWA

  

8. A set up panel allows the user to select:

8.1. The type of notifications 

8.2. The loudness of notification signal


If the operating system does not allow access to the call screen, the following approach will be used:
1. The CWA app is totally independent of call function
2. The caller makes the call normally as usual
3. If the responder asks the caller to hold, the caller minimizes the call screen
4. Then, the caller opens CWA app
5. CWA automatically mutes the speaker and microphone and starts listening to the incoming audio
6. CWA provides a button to cancel 6. When CWA detects end of call waiting, it notifies the caller
7. CWA changes cancel button to CWA button 8. When the caller hangs up, CWA app closes (or the caller closes it)
