Job Title: Licensed Attorney - Federal Arbitration Act (FAA) Specialist

Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly qualified Licensed Attorney in the State of Virginia preferably in Norfolk, Portsmouth, and or Virginia Beach with expertise in the Federal Arbitration Act (FAA) to join our legal team in Virginia. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of U.S. arbitration laws, including the FAA, and have experience representing clients in arbitration matters. The attorney will be responsible for providing legal advice, drafting arbitration agreements, negotiating terms, and representing clients in arbitration and related court proceedings.
Key Responsibilities:
Legal Representation: Represent clients in arbitration proceedings governed by the FAA, ensuring compliance with all applicable federal and state arbitration laws.
Advisory Services: Provide legal advice to clients regarding their rights and obligations under the FAA. Assist in understanding and navigating the implications of arbitration agreements.
Document Preparation: Draft, review, and negotiate arbitration agreements, motions, and other legal documents related to arbitration matters.
Collaboration with Counsel: Work closely with foreign legal counsel when necessary, facilitating effective communication and promoting compliance with U.S. arbitration laws.
Court Proceedings: Represent clients in court proceedings related to arbitration, including confirming or vacating awards, and addressing any challenges to arbitration agreements.
Research and Analysis: Conduct thorough legal research on arbitration laws and regulations, staying current with any changes that may impact clients’ cases.
Client Consultation: Meet with clients to discuss arbitration options, provide updates on case progress, and develop strategies for effective resolution of disputes.
Training and Development: Mentor junior attorneys or legal staff on FAA-related matters, promoting a culture of legal excellence and continuous learning.
Qualifications:
Education: Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Licensure: Must be a licensed attorney in the state of Virginia and in good standing.
Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in arbitration or litigation, with a strong focus on the Federal Arbitration Act. Experience with international arbitration is a plus.
Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the Federal Arbitration Act and related federal and state laws. Familiarity with the rules of the American Arbitration Association (AAA) and/or the International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR) is beneficial.
Skills: Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills. Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and effectively to clients and colleagues.
Collaboration: Experience working collaboratively with outside counsel and international legal teams.
Languages: Proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
