I am seeking an experienced structural engineer to assess the feasibility of my cabin design and provide guidance on framing materials and structural integrity. The cabin will be located in Central Alberta, Canada, and must be designed to handle extreme weather conditions, including heavy snow loads and high winds.
All project details, including key specifications and structural requirements, are included in the attached document.
Deliverables:
1. Feasibility Assessment:
- Evaluate if the current design can be safely built.
- Provide recommendations for any necessary structural adjustments.
2. Framing Design:
- Outline the materials and specifications for the cabin’s frame (timber or engineered lumber).
- Ensure that no center beam is needed, and the design accommodates all load requirements.
3. Updated SketchUp Model:
- Make necessary modifications to the existing SketchUp model (.skp file) to reflect any changes or improvements to the design.
Ideal Candidate:
- Experience in designing residential structures, particularly cabins or similar projects.
- Familiarity with Canadian building codes and climate considerations.
- Proficiency in SketchUp and structural engineering tools.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain engineering concepts clearly.
