I’m looking for a Vietnamese voiceover narrator to record lines for a short travelogue film set in Vietnam. The film follows a group of friends on a four-cave trek, and the narration is meant to feel cinematic, thoughtful, and a bit off-beat / humorous.

The vibe is: serious documentary voice, but describing slightly absurd or deadpan lines. The contrast is what makes it funny.

Scope of Work

  • ~30 short lines (about one sentence each).

  • I will provide the script in English.

  • I need each line recorded in both Vietnamese and English so I can easily match and edit in post.

Preferred recording format/workflow:

  • Two passes of the script:

    1. Pass 1 – English:

      • Say the line number, then the English line.

      • Example: “Line 1… [English sentence].”

    2. Pass 2 – Vietnamese:

      • Say the same line number, then the Vietnamese version.

      • Example: “Dòng 1… [Vietnamese sentence].”

  • Clean, high-quality audio (WAV or high-quality MP3), mono is fine, no heavy processing (light noise reduction / normalization is okay).

If you have a more standard workflow you prefer for bilingual VO that keeps things clearly organized by line, I’m open to suggestions.

Tone / Performance

  • Native or near-native Vietnamese speaker with good English.

  • Theatrical but controlled – more “cinematic narrator” than “cartoon.”

  • Comfortable delivering a calm, reflective, slightly deadpan tone.

  • Timing and clarity matter more than speed; I can handle the timing in the edit.

Requirements

  • Access to a professional or semi-professional recording setup (no heavy room echo, no loud background noise).

  • Ability to:

    • Read in English clearly, and

    • Translate/adapt the lines into natural Vietnamese that still keeps the meaning and humor.

    • Willing to do one small round of pickups if a few lines need tweaks.
