My strength as an artist comes not only from my discipline in practice and technique, but also from my intense dedication to scholarship and study. The subjects of my artwork are often very personal and very specific. For example: My senior show in art school was a "temple" that I built on campus that housed nearly 100 prints based on Middle Byzantine and 13th century French Gothic artwork. The prints were "windows" that were lit from behind, creating a spectacular sight at night. I adapted these historical styles to my own life by using them to tell stories of events that deeply affected my life.
