I started in the industry when I was 18. Now at 26, I have worked primarily for two companies.
One, a multi-state ISP. I entered into an entry level customer support role. My time there was spent doing customer support, however I soon realized that the processes needed streamlined. Therefore I created software for call logging. This application was task bar resident application for win32. It provided facilities to log customer issues into a adjoining server application (the server dumped the information into an Access database and facilitated issue reports, user statistics, call volume analysis, etc). Soon after starting that position (<6 months) I was moved to New Media (Web Services). I worked as a developer for some time before taking the lead position in the department.
