Advanced Fuel Cell System Design and Analysis
· Conducted a series of audits of the design, manufacturing methodology and projected production cost of phosphoric acid, molten carbonate and solid oxide fuel cell electric power generation equipment. These audits have spanned a period of almost 30 years. Sponsors have included United Technology, the Electric Power Research Institute, the Gas Research Institute, the Department of Energy, Technology Management, Inc., and NexTech Materials.
· Developed two concepts to reduce fuel cell cost and improve performance: both concepts were subsequently patented. One is a high density manifold configuration which reduces material content
(US 5,268,241). The other is an alternative separator plate design which eliminates a high cost process step (US 5,773,161).
· Conceptualized, designed, fabricated and tested a novel molten carbonate fuel cell power takeoff bus for 2000 ampere, 1250°F service. The project required the coordination
