Proofreading consists of eliminating cosmetic errors. It is usually the last step in the writing/editing process. It’s not meant to be comprehensive; proofreading does not involve reworking text or rearranging content. Proofreading is about conducting a final run-through to catch surface problems with content and language. If you require heavier editing, please see my copy editing service.
I am native English-speaking, and I have a B.S. in Communication with an emphasis in Journalism.
I am comfortable editing a variety of types of documents, including novels, theses/dissertations, journalistic articles, blog posts, marketing materials, corporate communications, and more.
I currently freelance as an editor for several personal and corporate clients, including two book publishers. Previously, I freelanced for Scribendi, Inc., where I edited a variety of documents in the realms of fiction, non-fiction, business, and academia and implemented many international style guides. In my experience, digital media and publishing often require short turnarounds, so I have learned to work with speed and efficiency while maintaining high quality standards. My experience also includes an editorial position as copy editor for The Poly Post newspaper, where I was responsible for editing, proofreading, and reviewing layouts for content, accuracy, and consistency of AP and house styles. I am also intimately familiar with the Chicago Manual of Style, as well as several other style books.
