Mel Harvard started as a sub-editor and features writer for Republican Press (Your Family, Living & Loving). Moving out into the world of entrepreneurship and big business in 1999, she kept her writing passions going by contributing to magazines such as HR Future, Creamer Media, local news and radio media, and more.

She went on to create Harvard Ink in 2019 and was joined in 2022 by business expert Alex Jaggers in growing it into a going concern, focusing on editing, proofreading, ghost-writing, self-publishing support for new authors, and copywriting for the business world.

Harvard Ink has helped many business ventures reach their target markets and increase sales and client connection using powerful, relatable marketing material, blogs and website copy. They have also helped over 100 authors and clients generate book ideas and turn them into great page-turners.

We soon realized that getting that book written is just not enough. So many authors hit a brick wall once that first draft of their book is done. While writing “the end” is a huge achievement, it is really only about a third of the way to the finish line.

So many brilliant ideas sit gathering dust because nobody really knows what to do with a finished first draft. And self-published writers may not be experts in book design, editing, or the necessary marketing needed to make their book visible and get it into reader’s hands.

I started out many years ago as a magazine journalist and have been freelancing for over 30 years in SEO, blogs, articles, advertorials, and as an editor. I have successfully ghost-written in excess of 100 books ranging from 20,000 up to 100,000 words. I am an experienced writer on a range of topics, from self-help and psychology, natural or alternative health, and spiritualism through to parenting, relationships, workplace, and management challenges.

With a diploma in Fine Art, my earliest passion lies in writing. Six years ago, I began expressing this passion more outwardly by doing volunteer work for modding development teams.
