I have a collection of 9 children's books that I need illustrated.
Each book has 8 pages of illustrations. The page size will be half the size of a regular 8.5"X11" sheet of paper. The artwork area will be in portrait format, 4 inches wide by 5.5 inches high. I will also have... Show all I have a collection of 9 children's books that I need illustrated.
Each book has 8 pages of illustrations. The page size will be half the size of a regular 8.5"X11" sheet of paper. The artwork area will be in portrait format, 4 inches wide by 5.5 inches high. I will also have a short sentence at the bottom of the page. You can see the attached files for samples of how I used a previous artist’s artwork for my books.
This project is a work for hire. I will own and maintain all the copyrights for the artwork. I will gladly list the chosen artist as the author of the books.
Each book will need 8 color-illustrated pages and 8 black and white illustrated pages for a total of 16 pages of artwork per book set. Each Image has a black and white and a color component. So, I guess that each page image is actually two images one simple and one a little more complex because of the color component. Each book set will require 8 pages of illustrations in black and white. And each book set will require 8 pages of corresponding colored pages. Or another way of saying this is that I require a color version and a black and white version for each book.

To say it in a different way, each 8 pages of illustration will need to be in two formats:
1. Line art
2. Colored line art
I will be responsible for the layout of the book and the information on the front and back inside and outside covers. You the artist are only providing the artwork.
I am looking for realistic drawings of people. Bright cheery child friendly pictures, mostly having children as the main characters where possible. Animals are welcome, but definitely not as the main characters. And if animals are included, they must remain as animals. Sure they can have a slight smile but no wearing of clothes, nor doing things that they are not capable of doing nor sprouting opposable thumbs, etc. For clarity's sake and more detailed description with pictures look at the artsamples pdf attached.
The preferred format for me to have the finished product in is layered, raw illustrator files. That way I have the most flexibility in using them and manipulating them for my purposes.
Artist will need to submit outlines for each story page, preferably in a set, then for the line art before continuing on to the final colored versions. This is collaborative as I am trying to have a specific type of artwork for these books, as explained above, that I do not personally have the skills to create at this time.
Although this may seem constraining for the artist, the artist for the previous ten books and I worked well together in this way. and this is why i am seeking to pay someone.
Please make your bids in two parts:
How much you would charge for one book (16 paired art pieces, 8 line art and 8 colored line art)
How much you would charge for all ten books (160 paired art pieces, 80 line art and 80 colored line art)
I have attached a dozen samples of previous illustrators' artwork that I did use in some of my other children's stories. This is to help clarify the quality/type of work I am looking for and to show examples of how they did a color and b&w version for each illustration.
