Queen Elizabeth II appeared in good health Thursday while receiving the Swiss president at Windsor Palace, as she smiled broadly on her face and stood without the help of a cane, which brought relief to her condition weeks before the celebrations of the seventieth anniversary of her accession to the throne.

The Queen, who celebrated her 96th birthday last week, stood in front of photographers' lenses on Thursday with Swiss President Ignacio Cassis and his wife at Windsor Palace, 40 kilometers from London, where she has resided since the beginning of the pandemic. 

The Queen wore a blue and gray silk dress decorated with floral patterns, and did not use the cane that accompanied her on several occasions in recent weeks.

In early June, four-day celebrations of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee will be held in London. 

The Queen has greatly reduced her public activities in recent months due to health problems that hamper her ability to move. Since her brief hospitalization in October, the Queen has been less visible in public, although she continues to perform "light duties" at Windsor Castle, mostly via video link.

However, on March 29, the Queen insisted that she attend a religious ceremony in Westminster in honor of her husband Prince Philip, who died on April 9, 2021 at the age of 99.

Buckingham Palace said the Queen hopes to be able to attend the opening ceremony of the British Parliament on May 10, an annual event that she has missed only twice during her 70-year tenure.
