The world of artificial intelligence has produced an incredible amount of innovation in the past decade. As AI becomes more accessible and advanced, it’s having a positive impact on our everyday lives. From virtual assistants to self-driving cars, AI is infiltrating almost every industry.

Artificial intelligence is widely known as a futuristic concept. The idea that computers could think and act like humans seemed too far-fetched to ever become a reality. But that’s no longer the case. Artificial intelligence has been rapidly changing our daily lives, sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse. The pace of change is truly astonishing—in a good way or a bad way, depending on your perspective. It is certainly something that we must all take note of and understand how it will alter our lives in the future if it continues to progress at this pace. Keep reading to learn more about artificial intelligence, its impact on our lives, and how it will continue to change them in the future.

What is artificial intelligence ?

Artificial intelligence is the computer driven processes that mimic the way human beings think. These processes include machine learning, deep learning and natural language processing. Machine learning algorithms are trained on large datasets and smartly trained to learn patterns that resemble how humans learn and reason. Artificial intelligence uses these algorithms to automate tasks such as analytics, business planning, marketing and fraud detection.

Machine learning programs can be trained to mimic human behavior. For instance, some AI programs are capable of learning from examples and producing results similar to humans in many ways. These programs are formed by a set of parameters that define how the data should be analyzed and what its relationship is with other data.

History of AI

Alan Turing was a mathematician and computer scientist. He was the first to realize that all machines with memory could be programmed to act in a very human way by asking questions only humans could answer. Turing developed the Turing Test, which involves judging whether someone is human or a computer, based on responses to all the right questions. Like some other early Artificial Intelligence researchers, Turing considered intelligence not as ability but as a test of social interaction.

Today, we have all kinds of "thinking" computers and robots. Have any passed the Turing Test? Yes. In fact, a chatbot recently fooled a panel of judges into thinking it was a 13-year-old boy named Eugene Goostman. Google AI has also passed the test. Does that mean these computers are sentient beings? No. Many say that the Turing Test is outdated and needs to be revised as a way to determine if a computer is actually thinking like a human. Currently, no computer actually thinks like a human."
