Charles III to Germany.. The Axis and th

From France, Germany hijacked the first foreign visit of the King of Britain in a compass that unites two countries separated by World War II alliances, and their “unity” is a visit of a king.

On Wednesday, Berlin will welcome King Charles III and his wife, Camilla, with cordiality and strict security measures, on their first international visit abroad since his accession to the throne of Britain.

The king and his wife were supposed to go first to France before Germany, but the visit was canceled due to protests related to the reform of the pension system in this country.

The king and his wife arrive Wednesday afternoon at Berlin International Airport.

On the occasion of the visit, strict security measures were taken with a heavy deployment of security forces in Berlin, where King Charles and Camilla will stay for two days before moving to Hamburg on Friday, as part of the last stop on their visit.

It will deploy 1,100 police with reinforcements from other regions, as well as twenty dogs trained to detect explosives. Some major roads will be closed to traffic in the center of the capital.

"The royal couple wished they could communicate directly with the people of Berlin," police chief Thomas Drechler told German media.

Axis and allies

Decades ago, the world was divided into two camps: the Axis, which included Germany among other countries, and the Allies, including Britain, and that was the beginning of World War II, which lasted until 1945.

Historical circumstances are changing today to break old alliances and the restrictions of previous alignments, as Charles III arrives in Germany to unite two countries separated by decades of war and brought together by a king's visit.

Queen Elizabeth made a recent visit to Germany in 2015, during the reign of Chancellor Anguilla Merkel, and the visit aroused great enthusiasm in the country.

As for her most important visit, it was in 1965, when the wall separated the two parts of Berlin. The visit was seen as the station that dedicated reconciliation between the two countries after World War II.

And Michael Hartmann, a sociologist at the University of Dammstadt, told AFP that the Germans are big supporters of the British royal family and their "great interest" in it will not fade even after the death of the once popular and popular Queen Elizabeth.

And Charles, when he was still the Prince of Wales, stressed the "normal relations as allies and friends" between the two countries during a speech he delivered to German parliamentarians in 2020, and he recited part of it in German.

He also reminded of his family's German roots, speaking in particular of Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, Queen Victoria's German husband.
