China discovers a new fatal virus
According to reports, a potentially lethal new virus has been found in China and is thought to have been transmitted from shrews to humans.
The Langya Henipavirus, known as “Langya”, has already infected 35 people, according to Taiwan’s Centers for Disease Control although no one has died or suffered a serious illness, says Taiwan’s Centers for Disease Control as per a report in The Taipei Times.
There is no vaccination for it, and the World Health Organization says it can have a fatality rate of up to 75%.
