Caitlin McCombs is a civil engineer who works from Maui, Hawaii. She has nearly four years of engineering experience and her EIT certification. She has experience in stormwater & utilities design, permitting & compliance, and grading. She operates well with a clear outline of criteria, expectations, and goals. Caitlin primarily uses Autocad Civil 3D to generate plans and has experience using Infraworks to create 3D model imagery of what completed plans may look like. She is also adept at stormwater drainage calculations and reports using tools such as Excel and Bentley Flowmaster. Caitlin’s engineering career began at Brown and Caldwell in Raleigh, North Carolina where she focused mostly on permitting and compliance for projects across the United States. This work included quickly and efficiently researching a multitude of different local regulations on a daily basis and identifying their applicability to the client’s proposed project. Additionally, she worked regularly with local agencies in order to be able to both clarify regulatory information and to help push the review process through. She later moved to Maui, Hawaii, where she joined the team at SSFM International. The projects here were mostly located in the County of Maui, where she gained experience in the local and State permitting processes and was able to build relationships with many of the local agencies. For about two and a half years, Caitlin worked in plan design & development, permitting & compliance, project coordination, and project management with local, interisland, and international teams. She has completed technical reviews and also worked on drainage and preliminary engineering reports. Caitlin has over 10,000 hours of professional engineering experience. In her off time, Caitlin enjoys long walks on the beach and salsa dancing. She is also involved in Hawaii’s first commercial-scale rainbow trout and watercress aquaponics operation.
