I did a feature article for a local magazine (this won an award from the Catholic Press Association) of a couple who did volunteer work. The problem, of course, was that they were very nice people who had led "good" lives. But everyone has a story, everyone is interesting. Not just "nice." Not just oatmeal, good for you. So it was up to me to find that thing, that spark, that shared humanity that makes the reader want to know them. That makes us glad to know that there are good people like that. So I did my job. Not just an article, my obligation as a writer with talent to write the real story underneath. I currently have been freelancing some sports columns for a local newspaper. I love the drama of NASCAR. ---I have done Graduate work in Written Communications, with an interest in modern rhetorical theory, and the basis of mythololgy in popular culture.
