I have created help files for three different companies. I worked as a consultant within a Fortune 500 company where I wrote and edited hundreds of documents for simultaneous distribution in print, pdf and web-ready formats. I interviewed engineers, technicians, and marketing representatives in person, by phone, and by email to obtain the information needed to create all the documentation for a continuous stream of new scientific instruments. When I joined the development team for an Academy Award winning digital film system, the only documentation was the business case for a revolutionary new product. I interviewed all of the development engineers and created the documentation used to train the entire 160-person team that created the final product. I wrote and designed a three-part program (book, audiotape, and computer-based training tutorial) on the Federal Procurement Process. This required me to make numerous long distance phone calls to interview dozens of people.
