Freelance Writer and Editor

$20/hr Starting at $25

Hello, Friend! I am a published author and previous nonfiction acquisition editor at Cedar Fort Publishing & Media. I believe my skill set as an editor and writing coach will not only make sure all written content is grammatically sound and well-developed but will also offer a great guide and support to the authors I will have the opportunity to work with. I also provide services in writing fun and engaging content for websites and editing RFPs (Request for Proposals), laying out books in InDesign, and copyediting anything with words. I graduated from Brigham Young University as an English major and editing minor in April 2015. I have had wonderful jobs and experiences that have helped me develop my own skills in writing, as well as substantive editing and copyediting. However, the secret is that I became an editor so I could act as a double agent and learn how to publish my own books and help others do the same. I now have a fantastic foundation in the publishing world after working for Cedar Fort Publishing & Media, editing 14 published books, and becoming an author. My book, Cooking Through College: When You Can’t Stand Instant Noodles Another Day, was released in August 2016. Since I am an editor and an author, I have a unique perspective and many resources I can offer authors as they too publish their babies. My main responsibilities at Cedar Fort were to solicit, acquire, and create authors, books, and products for the nonfiction department. I also refined the development and flow of manuscripts and managed the production of all books and products for my department. Though I mainly edited other people’s work, I did a tremendous amount of writing for the back blurbs of books, ad copies for books and products, and major rewrites for manuscripts. But my favorite aspects of my job were teaching and coaching my authors in their writing journey. For specific samples of what I did at Cedar Fort, please visit my website listed in my contact information. I now work for an online learning and publishing company, but I do freelance projects and my own writing projects on the side. And even though I am publishing a cookbook, I do love to write and edit nonfiction, contemporary fiction, fantasy, and children’s books. Most of what I love and read fall under middle-grade fantasy, but I have experience and interest in many genres.
