Happy Valley's Charlie Murphy

$20/hr Starting at $25

Actress Charlie Murphy is worlds away from gritty police officer Ann Gallagher. The Happy Valley star, 34, has had a glamorous makeover since series three ended with a nail-biting showdown between her co-stars Sarah Lancashire and James Norton.

Appearing on This Morning on Thursday, Charlie showed off her blonde locks - and viewers took to Twitter to praise her new look.

The actress was joined on the sofa by Richard Armitage to promote their new Netflix show Obsession, but Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary couldn't resist chatting to her about Happy Valley.

Talking about being part of series three, Charlie said: 'It's such a great thing [to be part of] and to come back to it after seven years as well and we always knew we would after series two.

It's like opening a time capsule seeing everyone on set again.

'Some people have had kids some people are with different people, you know, you just catching up all the time.

'I just remember when the cameras were rolling... They were like, "you have to stop talking about your private life. It's rolling. You have to start".'

The Irish actress portrayed the daughter of businessman Nevison Gallagher (George Costigan) on the show.

In series one, Ann was the target of an evil kidnap plot before going on to join the police force.

Charlie wore a silk camisole for her TV appearance - worlds away from the police uniform she wore in the hit drama.

She sported a bronzed complexion with a radiant make-up look.

This Morning viewers took to social media to gush over her TV appearance.

Series three concluded in February and while many fans were expecting a high-octane conclusion, and perhaps even Catherine's demise, writer Sally Wainwright's decision to pivot her finale around a 15 minute long kitchen table war of words between Tommy and Catherine left viewers in awe.

A stand-off worth waiting for - no guns, no knives, no punches but a battle of words which Catherine badly needed to say. Superb stuff by Sally Wainwright a tour de fore turn by Sarah Lancashire & a whirlwind of emotion from James Norton. What a finale,' declared one viewer.

Others hailed Sarah's performance, with a fan deciding that 'she deserves all the BAFTAs, Golden Globes and Oscars and it still won't be enough.'

'I already feel sorry for any drama or actress up against Happy Valley and Sarah Lancashire at next year's BAFTAs. Forget it it's over, you haven't got a chance,' agreed writer Emma Kennedy.

The Sunday Times' Rosamund Urwin pointed out: 'I hope the success of Happy Valley means there are currently loads of dramas being commissioned with 50-something women as the protagonists, especially if they aren't always completely likeable characters. Sarah Lancashire is just stellar.'

'Many finales are a let down but Happy Valley wrapped up brilliantly.
