The amazing story of the World Cup's top scorer

Today, Ener Valencia has repeated Oleg Salenko's record.  But he could not leave the field. After a brace against Qatar, Enner Valencia gave the Netherlands a nightmare.  And now he has scored three goals in two matches for the Ecuadorian national team striker.  In total, Valencia scored the sixth consecutive goal for his country at the World Championships - in 2014, he charged a brace against Honduras and scored against Switzerland.  In 2018, the South American team did not go to the World Cup.  It turns out that eight years have passed, and only Valencia still scored for Ecuador.

There are three other players who have single-handedly scored six consecutive goals for their team.  These are Eusebio (Portugal), Paolo Rossi (Italy) and Oleg Salenko (Russia).  In 2002, Salenko's streak was interrupted by Yegor Titov, who scored against Tunisia.  No one has ever scored seven consecutive goals for one team.  So Valencia has already made history.

Qatari footballers almost broke Valencia

In the last match, the Fenerbahçe striker was fouled most often (4).  As a result, the Qataris still finished off Valencia, who requested a substitution in the 77th minute. Then you can see the footage of the Ecuadorian sitting on a bench with an ice pack on his knee.  But coach Gustavo Alfaro was quick to announce that Valencia will play against the Netherlands.  Today, the striker was the first to finish the match after Purvis Estupinyan scored and equalized.  In total, the striker fired five shots at Nobert's goal - this is the best result of the match.

In the 88th minute, the captain of the Ecuadorian national team again requested a replacement due to injury - he was taken from the field on a stretcher.  Participation in the match with Senegal is now a big question.
