IMDS Compliance Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES: • Working on European Union Regulations like End life of Vehicles (ELV), REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals), RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substance). • Responsible in validation of datasheet effectively and efficiently based on ELV Criteria as well as according to new updates in GADSL and IMDS Recommendations. • Creation of material Datasheets from the basic substance, BOM (Bill of Material) Analysis. • Being a part of GM IMDS helpdesk, involved extensively in customer interactions, answering all supplier queries related to material and product compliance process and prioritizing all supplier or customer requests. • Checking compliance for materials (its chemical composition and classification) used in automotive components globally for all the General Motors regions according to ELV regulations. • Analysis on SVHC (Substances of very high concern) and RoHS substances in MDS for OEMs\Tier Ones and development of subsequent strategy for the elimination of restricted substances present above threshold, prepare regulatory requirements guidance documents for suppliers. • Certifying export vehicles to the European Union for ELV requirements by approving online and follow up with rejected MDSs. • Communicate to supplier base and engineers to make them aware of IMDS requirements and ELV legislation including online training, Workshops and Individual Supplier and Engineer questions. • Liaison with Materials Engineers, Service Parts Operations Engineers, Suppliers, Designing Engineers, etc. to resolve legislative compliance issues. • Support Supplier Quality to approve PPAP on time. • Maintain database of all approved/rejected parts using MS Access.
