North Korean leader Jong Un Un supervised a test of strategic cruise missiles, the official Korean Central News Agency said, as South Korea and the United States began annual military exercises that Pyongyang considers rehearsals for war.

And Kim inspected one of his fleets in the schedule, and the inspection visit and the chair that was launched came, but it does not happen that it is unusual.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un visited a naval unit and oversaw a strategic missile test, state media reported Monday, ahead of joint military exercises between South Korea and the United States.

Kim inspected one of his fleets in the East Sea, also known as the Sea of Japan, and observed crew members as they prepared for "strategic cruise missile" firing exercises, North Korea's official KCNA news agency reported.

The agency did not mention when this inspection visit took place and did not provide additional details about the type of missiles that were fired, but it indicated that they "hit their targets quickly without any error."

The announcement comes ahead of the annual large-scale "Ulchi Freedom Shield" exercises between the United States and South Korea, which are scheduled to run until August 31 and are aimed at countering growing North Korean threats.

Pyongyang believes that these joint exercises represent a preparation for an invasion of its territory, and has repeatedly warned that its response will be "overwhelming".

South Korean police announced Sunday that suspected North Korean hackers had tried to hack into the accounts of South Korean personnel working in the joint military exercises that kick off Monday between Seoul and Washington.

The announcement of the cruise missile test comes days after US President Joe Biden received South Korean leader Yoon Sok Yol and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida at Camp David.
