In a fiction manuscript review, we look for cohesiveness of the plot(s), character development, consistency, historical / contextual accuracy, marketability, originality, and much more. We review the overall texture of the fictive world and make sure that it’s understandably and compelling. Non-fiction manuscripts are quite different. I look for plagiarism, utility of sources, proper use of terms, logical consistency, flow, and everything else the book needs to meet the author's goals.
