Mechanical Designer

During the four years of my under graduation course I realized that I was naturally good at the design aspect of engineering, and the fact that computers today play a very vital role in all fields of engineering and their indisputable role in designing a product. As per our curriculum we had to learn SOLIDWORKS as our modelling software, but I was keen on trying new soft wares hence I self-taught myself CATIA v5 off the internet. I know the basics of programming languages like C, C++ and utilised the same while completing my final year project. Technology is so advanced today, as an idea for a design of a product can be created within few hours by the use of complex softwares like Solidworks, Catia, AutoCAD etc., and prototypes can be created using 3-D Printer or by the use of CNC programming and machines. As I naturally became inclined to this part of engineering, it further led me to do several design projects. As part of my syllabus I was supposed to complete a design and hardware project, for my design project titled “Design and analysis of a pair of Helical Gear”, I designed the gears in Solidworks and did the analysis in ANSYS. My hardware project titled “Design and fabrication of an economical can crusher”, here we designed the can crusher in solidworks and based on the design fabricated a prototype. I decided to do a design project as my final year project, titled as “Performance of Gas Turbine Cycle” here I wrote a C program to obtain the exit value of a turbojet engine, when provided with the entry conditions. Based on the entry exit condition, I designed the nozzle for the turbojet engine.
