PNC hires former Fifth Third executive as Cincinnati corporate banking chief

PNC Bank has brought in a Cincinnati banking veteran to head up its local corporate banking unit.

Chris Ramos, who has worked in Cincinnati commercial banking for more than 30 years, joined PNC beginning Monday as corporate banking market leader for Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. That team serves companies with annual revenues of more than $50 million.

Ramos fills the role, one of the highest in Pittsburgh-based PNC’s (NYSE: PNC) local operation, vacated in late July when Warren Weber became local market president. Weber replaced Kay Geiger, who retired after more than four decades in banking.

Ramos had been with downtown-based Fifth Third Bank for the past 19 1/2 years, including the last 10 as senior vice president and credit solutions director. He worked with midsize companies throughout his tenure at Fifth Third, the largest locally based bank.

Ramos’ move brings him back to where he started his banking career.

Before joining Fifth Third in January 2003, Ramos worked at PNC in Cincinnati for 14 1/2 years. He worked with middle-market companies during that stint too.

Ramos’ experience includes various leadership positions. He also has worked in credit and asset-based lending roles.

“Chris is a dynamic and energetic leader who understands and embraces PNC’s Main Street Bank philosophy,” Weber said in a news release. “Chris has a strong track record and deep knowledge of the market.”

Ramos has a bachelor’s degree in finance from Miami University and an MBA from Xavier University. He has served as a board member of the University of Cincinnati’s Goering Center for Family and Private Business and received the Goering Center’s Keith Baldwin Award as a content creator and presenter of educational programming for business owners considering ownership transition options. Ramos also graduated from the Leadership Cincinnati program.

PNC is Greater Cincinnati’s third-largest bank. It had $9.2 billion in local deposits as of June 2021, according to the most recently available data from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. PNC has 53 Greater Cincinnati banking offices.
