Policy and Social Science Editing

$40/hr Starting at $50

I can offer consistent and time-sensitive proofreading and editing services for all things related to politics and the social sciences. As a policy analyst and former campaign manager, I have years of experience in writing speeches, resolutions, memorandums, and legislation. My political writing projects also extend outside of the government and into the non-profit and educational sectors. In my work for the Los Angeles City Council, I write reports and resolutions with the purpose of making highly technical research in housing policy accessible for politicians with non-technical backgrounds. I also occasionally ghost write opinion editorials for Councilmembers who want to share their positions on controversial State and Federal legislation in the Los Angeles Times. I am also well-trained in my academic writing skills. At Columbia University I wrote seven research papers in two years - one of which was a 90-page thesis. My subjects ranged from world history to city planning, political science, and identity politics. I first became interested in working as a proofreader and writer when my friend from France asked me to proofread his economics PhD dissertation, which he wrote in English despite being a non-native speaker. After discovering that I had a knack for writing and communication, he had me proofread his English subtitles for his short film. Since then, I have been proofreading college application essays, academic papers, and creative writing projects outside of my work as a legislative analyst.
