I have extensive practical experience combining various programming tools to solve practical problems. I have used Perl for nearly 10 years as a tool to extract and convert data formats and to automate repetitive tasks in other applications (like Word and Excel). I have also used Fortran and Matlab to develop sophisticated models for scientific problems. I am constantly learning to use new tools so that I can continually develop the right solution quickly for whatever new problems may arise.
