For the past two years, I have proofread and copyedited many essays and articles. When I proofread, I only correct spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and syntax errors. If I copy edit, I do this and I:

can fact-check your work
checking for grammatical, logical, and narrative inconsistencies or/and repetitions
smooth out transitions
move or rewrite some sentences for clarity

I am very familiar with the guidelines found in the 17th edition of the Chicago Manual of Style (CMoS) and the Associated Press (AP), and the Modern Language of the Arts (MLA).
