Special Education Attorney/Advocate

$50/hr Starting at $250

I represented and advocated for students who were in need of special education assistance pursuant to the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA) or Section 504 of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). A significant amount of my clients were confined to juvenile residential placement facilities as a result of their interaction with the juvenile justice system. A few of the clients were adults who although incarcerated after their adjudication with the criminal justice system still were entitled to compensatory education as a result of the failure of the local or state government educational agencies to provide FAPE ( Free, Appropriate Education) to them when they were students. As part of my duties I attended Administrative hearings, IEP meetings and resolution meetings, I also researched and drafted appeals for our cases, Motions, 5 Day Disclosures, and Findings of Fact and Conclusions of Law when needed. I visited private and public juvenile residential placement facilities, private and public educational facilities to determine the appropriate placement for my clients. Supervised the educational advocates, paralegals and investigators assigned to my team and negotiated compensatory education settlements for my clients.

Let me start by saying, this was by far, the absolute best experience I have ever had with hiring someone outside of my organization on every level. Not only the expertise, but the professionalism during the entire job. The communication could have been no better, I was kept abreast every step of the way and never did I have to wonder what was going on with the job. Finally, any and all future freelance jobs that Legal Eye Esq. is capable of performing for my organization, will be sent their way, I have found the best of the best!
