Stronger winds flood concerns remain

$20/hr Starting at $25

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- The Bay Area is getting hit by another atmospheric river.

The heaviest rain is moving out while the strongest winds are now moving in.

Flooding on roads and streams will happen faster than last Friday's atmospheric river because the ground is saturated and runoff will begin almost immediately. Wet soils will make it easier for trees to come down too.

Rain will become heavy Tuesday morning after light rain began Monday night.

The Tuesday morning commute will be a MESS. After 9 a.m., showers become scattered but downpours are still possible through Tuesday evening.

Winds will be stronger with this atmospheric river than our last one on Friday.

It's gusting at 53 mph in Half Moon Bay, 39 mph in Oakland and San Jose. A High Wind Warning is in effect.

Trees come down easier when the ground is already saturated. We are expecting numerous trees to come down along with scattered power outages through 5 p.m.. Winds are fierce currently, gusting 40-55 mph and they will strengthen a bit more early Tuesday afternoon.

Winds in the hills of Marin County and the Santa Cruz Mountains are gusting 70-90 mph.
