I was involved in more than 2000 MW of solar PV projects, as well as 400 MW of wind power projects, mainly in Middle East, North Africa (MENA) region. I've worked on project development, feasibility studies, conceptual design and financial modeling.

I was involved in the conceptual design of a 20 MW grid-connected Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Hurghada, Egypt in 2017. It was developed by the Egyptian New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) and funded by JICA. Unfortunately, the project was put on hold and is not executed yet.

I am experienced in the design of PV systems (both small and utility scale). I have designed PV plants up to 50 MWp, including:

  • solar resource assessment & exceedance study (P50 and P90 estimates)
  • Selection and sizing of system components (panels, inverters, batteries, cables, etc.)
  • General arrangement & layout for the plant (including internal roads)
  • Shadow calculations & losses estimate
  • Single Line Diagrams (SLD) for the medium voltage plant exit switchgear
  • Preliminary Bill of Quantities (BOQ)
  • Plant performance simulation using PVSyst and/or PVSol
