No. 9: Streak to bronze

Dewey High senior hurdler Dallas Mullikin proved he was made of stern stuff.

A double medalist from the 2021 state track meet, Mullikin honed himself into contention for top three medals in both the 110m high hurdles and 300m hurdles at the 2022 final.

He had worked for it. He had endured pain for it. He practiced for it.

But, the best laid plans …

In the high hurdles final, Mullikin burst into the lead.

But, Dewey head coach Dan Close said Mullikin then became momentarily distracted and hit a couple of hurdles hard.

That knocked him out of contention for a high finish, but he still flew past the finish line in seventh place (:16.13), proving to be a winner in grit and in composure coming off a rough moment.

More importantly, at the moment, was how Mullikin would mentally approach the 300m hurdle final.

As mentioned earlier, he passed the test with flying colors.
