TOP CLICKS: The week that was in viral stories

Whether it’s local news, provincial and national politics, or the worlds of celebrity and sports, we have you covered.

Some stories set the world on fire. And these ones are the most popular online stories from the past seven days, clicked on by Sun readers like you.

Here are our top stories:

LILLEY: Jordan Peterson threatened with psychologists licence being revoked over political statements online

Jordan Peterson claimed he is about to lose his licence to practice psychology in Ontario over political statements he has made online, his support of Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre and criticism of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his allies.

Peterson revealed he is being ordered to take remedial social media training or face a disciplinary hearing, even though none of the people who have lodged complaints against him are clients or are connected to clients, nor have they experienced personal harm from Peterson.

You don’t have to be a football fan or even know anything about the sport to be aware that there was a devastating turn of events during Monday night’s NFL game between the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals that saw Bills defensive back Damar Hamlin collapse on the field following a tackle.

By Tuesday morning, Hamlin was still in critical condition and it was determined he suffered a cardiac arrest. Part of the nearly 20-minute medical treatment he received on the field was his heartbeat being restored by staff.

A lot of good has happened since the incident that has somehow brought together a nation and others around the world. As of the last update, Hamlin is breathing on his own, able to talk, and even joined a team meeting via videoconference, where he told them “love you boys.”

I’m not crying, you’re crying.

Peach Bowl Girl identified after she goes viral during football game

It took three seconds for a blue-eyed Ohio beauty to become an Internet sensation after she ever-so-briefly appeared on television screens.

The Buckeyes fan went viral during the New Year’s Eve broadcast of a college football playoff game between Ohio and the Georgia Bulldogs.

Quickly dubbed the “Peach Bowl Girl,” she was repeatedly featured during the broadcast of the semifinal game held at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta and social media users instantly became sleuths to try to find out who she is.

It didn’t take long for Catherine Gurd, a lacrosse player at Xavier University, to realize that she was being hunted, confirming on her TikTok page that she was indeed the girl everyone was talking about.
