Students at two Henderson County schools will return to class Friday morning after being sent home after a bomb threat.  Students were evacuated from North Henderson High School and Apple Valley Middle School Thursday after a suspicious package was found in a classroom in North Henderson.  Authorities say no explosives have been found.  Brevard High School and Haywood County Schools each received separate bomb threats Thursday, and none was found in either.  On Wednesday, authorities said the social media threat against East Rutherford High School was investigated and turned out to be a hoax.

 The SBI has contacted the Asheville Police Department and Buncombe County Sheriff's Office regarding the death of an inmate.  DeMarcus Antonio Royal has been charged in connection with a double shooting incident near Pisgah View Apartments last week.  Sharif says Royal was under special surveillance and was conscious and alert when he was taken to hospital on Sunday where he died on Wednesday evening.  Privacy laws prevent officials from stating why he needs medical attention.  Royal is the second death in custody this year from Buncombe County Detention Center.

 Inflation means higher food prices and this includes the cost of feeding inmates.  At the Haywood County Detention Center, prison workers receive more than $13,000 from county commissioners to cover the additional cost, which remains high with the prison's maximum capacity levels.  The committee chair says the aim of the changes is to simplify the system.
