Ukraine: New Special Assistance Program

$20/hr Starting at $25

Ukraine's Prime Minister Denis Shmyal said on Monday that Kyiv had sent to the International Monetary Fund a proposal to launch a new special assistance program, expecting to receive assistance in the period between November and December.

In addition, according to the Prime Minister, Germany promised to help Kyiv receive total financial assistance from the European Union.

"Germany will help Ukraine more quickly obtain 8 billion euros in total financial aid from the European Union and will take the lead in this process," Schmihal said.

Earlier, Vladimir Zelensky said that the European Union is artificially delaying the provision of total financial assistance to Ukraine amounting to 8 billion euros.

For his part, Igor Zhovkva, deputy head of Zelensky's office, said that Germany was preventing consideration of the issue of providing assistance to Ukraine, while the German authorities denied these allegations.

It is noteworthy that the International Monetary Fund announced last March that it would grant Ukraine $1.4 billion in emergency financing.
