Xavi Alonso and Bayer Leverkusen fall at

$25/hr Starting at $25

Bayer Leverkusen lost to AS Monaco after a hard-fought game in the lair of the BayerArena.

Bayer Leverkusen were however on track from the start to claim victory at home despite a goal conceded in the 10th minute, following a lack of judgment by their goalkeeper Lukás Hradecký who benefited Brel Embolo.  In a BayerArena overheated by nearly 28,000 spectators, the French international Moussa Diaby, still twirling, allows Leverkusen to return to the match as soon as the locker room returns in the 47th.   Xavi Alonso's Foals even manage to double the lead thanks to an incredible Florian Wirtz who, with a nice stepover, gets rid of four Monegasque defenders before lodging the ball in the back of the net.

But while the carrots seemed definitely cooked for the visitors, the left foot assassin of the Senegalese Krépin Diatta arises and shoots Lukás Hradecký setting the record straight in the 60th

Two everywhere, against all odds, Brel Embolo's teammates besieged the opposing camp and managed to add to the score in stoppage time thanks to Axel Disasi. The captain of the Monegasques victoriously takes a shot from 25 meters and crucifies the goal of Leverkusen in the 92nd minute.

AS Monaco won on the wire against Bayer Leverkusen who very often confused speed and haste in their numerous accelerations.

Technical errors that the teammates of Burkinabè Edmond Tapsoba must correct before the return match at the Louis II stadium, in two weeks.

Union Berlin hooks Ajax

Union Berlin, the other German club in the competition, will need just one goal difference in the return match in Berlin to advance to the next stage.

The Berliners, second in the Bundesliga, went to hold Ajax Amsterdam (0-0) in check.

The Köpenick club even almost won thanks to a goal from Morten Thorsby. But the referee refused to recognize it due to a hand fault.

Other results

Barcelona and Manchester United separated by 2 goals all. All the goals were scored in the second half. Draw also between Juventus Turin and Nantes (1-1).

The Spaniards of FC Seville largely dominated the Dutch of PSV Eindhoven (3-0).

Rennes lost to Ukrainian club Schaktar Donezk (2-1).

Cameroonian Toko Ekambi scored for Stade Rennais. Salzburg won at home against AS Rom (1-0).

Finally, Sporting Lissabon were held in check by the Danes of FC Midtjylland.
