Highlights
|
|
I began my career in 1977, as an art director. In 1989, after working in the publications industry for 12 years, I capitalized on my natural writing ability and trained as a copy editor and writer. As of 2005, I have 28 years experience in various forms of print and Web work. I am unique in that I bring an artistic sensibility to all my work and have often functioned as a creative director on elements related to writing projects.
Project highlights:
* I used my writing, editing, organizational and art direction skills to produce the biographical book "From Physician to Healer."
* I used my editorial development, architecture and management skills on a large international trade Web site and on a Web site for the pharmaceutical industry. Both projects were originally developed by other teams and were not functioning well. As a result of my work (along with other team members), both projects turned around and became viable.
* I was the creative director, copy editor and photo editor for the largest Florida water management agency's 180-page budget document. When completed, the document was praised by management as the best of the 20+ similar publications the agency produced.
* I worked virtually to produce a software help menu for the Latin American division of a major American bank. The challenges on this project were that there were unplanned changes to the software during help menu production, the software was originally written in Portugeuse and had a poor translation, and the development team was in Brazil. In spite of all of these factors, the documentation was completed on time and exceeded the developer's expectations.
* I was the managing editor of the travel section of a large Web site for nurses. In this capacity, I wrote copy, coordinated the photography, and managed several writers and a copy editor. I also was key in developing an advertising strategy for the site.
