About

[Junior] Web developer with high work ethics

At 18, I was torn between studying engineering or medicine; I enjoyed studying both physics and biology. A couple years later I had to choose my major, it was either Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. Initially, I chose mechanical engineering because I was convinced, I was going to be an automotive engineer. The following year I started entering student projects and worked directly with students from electrical engineering and computer science. The exposure to these other fields made me think “Hey, that’s also pretty interesting!” I got really into designing electrical circuits and figuring out how the components interact. Then I started to get more in depth into the code. It was so fascinating how the code we wrote made the electrical aspect communicate so fluidly with the mechanical aspect. Oh! Did I mention I’m also pretty interested in languages and cultures?
My point is, I’m not someone who had their dream career figured out at a very young age. I’m interested in a variety of fields. I think it’s a marvelous thing, because it means I can be flexible and I can mold myself into the best opportunity I can find. For example, this has led me to study two summer courses in sustainable engineering and energy engineering at two different German Universities. I got to work as a part-time freelancer doing mechanical designs and 3D models while studying to support myself financially. Since I love languages and communication so much, I worked for a time at a German call center. I learned a lot and also got promoted a lot. Twice in almost the span of 19 months.
For my latest job, I got accepted for a German-speaking role in a multi-national company whose strong-suit is software testing. My role as ‘Quality Associate’ is to implement, execute and analyze software test cases. Needless to say, I’m thrilled to be able to combine my technical background and also use my German language at the same time. All while gaining tremendous experience and building a stable career.
