About

Your idea made real.

Alex Gao is a designer & maker currently based in Austin Texas with over 13 years of professional expertise in design and project management within the toy manufacturing, 3D printing, and print production industries.

After completing his Media Arts & Animation degree at The Art Institute of Las Vegas, Alex entered the toy manufacturing industry. He began by developing toy concepts, sculpting characters, and designing packaging. Soon, he transitioned to a project manager role, immersing himself in a diverse range of manufacturing processes like casting, textile, milling, injection molding, and electronics integration. During this time, he contributed to renowned intellectual properties such as Street Fighter, Darksiders, Ni No Kuni, and Gears of War, among others.

At the peak of the 2015 3D printing boom, Alex ventured into the industry full-time, launching Moment 3D—a business offering services in 3D printing, design, reverse engineering, consulting, and fabrication. Over the course of six years, the business successfully served hundreds of clients, delivering thousands of parts. Notable clients included the U.S. Air Force, Caesars Palace Las Vegas Hotel and Casino, Nevada State Museum, and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas(UNLV).

Acknowledging his preference for design and fabrication over business management, he decided to close his business. Alex then transitioned into a project manager role at Max Art Pro, where he focused on designing for laser cutting, CNC, and print productions as well as establishing a 3D printing farm to create mixed media artwork. He then contributed significantly to the Allegiant Stadium project, where the company was tasked with creating artwork across the stadium, utilizing diverse mediums like canvas, dye sublimation, wall coverings, and mixed-media art.

Away from the whirring machines and laser beams, Alex spent his time playing video games, tending to his bonsai, enjoying movies with his wife, hiking with the dog, and whipping up culinary delights.
