His mom realized that Bob Young possessed a musical gift at an early age. While other kids were
outside playing ball, he was locked up in his bedroom with his first turntable that he purchased with his
allowance and a mixer she bought him for Christmas. He spent hours scratching records trying to sound like
Jam Master Jay and even though he did not perfect it, he learned a lot along the way. Once he got his first job flipping burgers, he purchased a Technics dual cassette deck and learned how to overdub with a
paper trick he learned by mistake. This trick would prove as the foundation for his first mixtapes.
Shortly thereafter, he purchased a used Roland TR-707 drum machine and a Casio keyboard and
began making beats for his childhood group, Crew 2 Def. The following summer, he and his best friend Marvis, entered a city-wide talent show at the Alabama State Fairgrounds and won 1st place! It was
then that he knew he was on to something good. He stuck through of all his dreams and today he is
affectionately known as EMTEEVEE (fka DJ MANISH), one of Alabama’s premier DJs.
He is a recipient of the 2017 Alabama Underground Music Awards BAMA Club DJ and
2009 AUA Best DJ awards. He has over 15 years of DJ experience rocking venues across the
Southeast and has appeared in various DJ battles and showcases. In 2016, he won the Nerve DJs &
Monster Products Automatic Remix Championship for producing the remix for Claudette Ortiz’s
hit single, Automatic. He has held residencies in some of Birmingham’s top clubs and
has played high-profile gigs in cities like Atlanta, Cleveland and Charlotte, N.C.
His style of video mixing can be characterized as creative popular, a style where he takes current
hits and blends them with past hits to make them sound cohesive and entertaining. It captivates eyes
and ears simultaneously while his unique edits serve up an exclusive flavor. This is how he seamlessly
connects with every audience, establishes his niche, and sets himself apart from other DJs.
In the past, he has opened for many mainstream artists including Gucci Mane, UGK, Juicy J., Big
K.R.I.T., J. Cole, Kevin Gates and more. Nowadays, you can catch him operating his DJ company,
LGE Events, performing at corporate functions and private events such as weddings, birthday
parties and more. His pre-made video mixes play in select venues across Alabama.
