Writer, editor, German translator

I am a freelance writer, editor, and translator based in New York with a B.A. in English from the University of Michigan and an M.A. in German Literature from the Humboldt University of Berlin.

Years of working across genres, fields, and languages have taught me that there is one main goal which unites every kind of writing: to produce clear, precise, and engaging sentences which express clear, precise, and engaging thoughts and experiences.

Translating: Having lived and studied for many years in Germany, earning a graduate degree in German literature along the way, I am ready to take German text and translate it into clear, precise, and engaging English prose. I, along with a native German-speaking partner, am also able to take English text and translate it into compelling German.

Writing: I can produce original, high-quality, compelling web and print content on a tight timeline. I also have experience with marketing (emails, newsletters, brochures, developing departmental manuals/Standard Operating Procedures, résumés and cover letters, etc.) and academic writing (research, style and citation requirements, structuring and executing a research plan). As far as blog content, particular areas of expertise include travel (Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Hungary, France), life in New York (neighborhoods, bars, restaurants, cultural events), education, books, alpine skiing, automobiles, religion, and politics. Editing & proofreading: Extremely detail-oriented, I take style, grammar, and punctuation seriously without ever losing sight of the broader goal of any piece of writing.
