Staffordian Brummie living in Brizzle; former PhD student in biology.

I am a native British speaker, but I’m also familiar with US English. For six years I lived in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, and I’ve been proofreading and content editing on a freelance basis since 2010. My experience ranges from theses, academic manuscripts for publication and website content to less formal documents, such as flyers, event programmes, children’s comics etc.

My background is in biological sciences; I hold a Bachelors degree in Medical Science and a Masters of Research in Toxicology, both from the University of Birmingham and I have experience of PhD-level research at Charles University in Prague. I still keep as up-to-date with research into life sciences as possible, and I love a good discussion or debate! In particular I enjoy editing scientific and academic documents, and assisting non-native English speakers with their use of language and giving them constructive feedback.

In my spare time I enjoy volunteering at cat rescue shelters, digital drawing and colouring, cooking and baking, and playing video games!

Please send me your text as a Word document (.doc, .docx) I will also need to know whether you have any special requirements such as following a particular style guide. Some universities, colleges and other education institutes will sometimes provide a set of instructions they want the author to follow, so I'd need to see these documents if you have them.
