Editing to Make Your Vision a Reality

I enjoy reading for pleasure and spend the majority of my free time doing so. I once heard someone say that you should think of what you would do with your time if you won a million dollars. The point of the exercise was to determine what activity one truly loved and enjoyed and to pursue it as one's career. For me, I would choose reading. Fortunately, the act of editing, proofreading and copyediting is just that--reading--albeit with a more critical eye for detail.

I earned a BA in Broad Humanities from the University of Pittsburgh. My major consisted of Philosophy and English Literature. I minored in Political Science. I consider myself to have a thorough liberal arts background. I am fluent in a wide and diverse number of subjects which include, but are not limited to, philosophy, literature (English, postcolonial, Latin American, and Anglo-Indian), psychology, history, religion (Christianity in particular), politics (US and world), current events, world affairs, foreign policy, art, astronomy, etc. Suffice it to say that I am well-read in a wide array of subjects, which greatly aids me in providing critical commentary and substantive feedback on the projects that I edit.

I am a seasoned editor, proofreader, and copyeditor. I have extensive experience working with fiction, nonfiction, and academic writing. I approach all projects with the utmost effort and professionalism. I am detail-oriented and this is evident in my work. I can point out issues regarding punctuation, spelling, grammar, usage, syntax, and diction. I can recommend substantive changes on the structure and coherence of a manuscript to improve its readability and flow. I offer unbiased, critical insight and feedback regarding the plot or argumentation of a work. When I am finished with a project, I am confident that it is publishable and press- (or web) ready.
