I love writing, reading, editing, and the English language.

My teachers praised my papers and other written work all through school.

One of my degrees is a Certificate in TESOL, which involved diving deeply into the linguistics, history, and grammar of the English language.

I have been writing and editing for over twenty years in nonprofit organizations. Editing and writing included newsletters, web content, meeting minutes, speeches, curriculum, advertisements (posters, brochures, etc.), presentations (PowerPoint), correspondence, official documents, and more.

Many non-native speakers have come to me for help with papers, essays, translation proofreading, and other checking of their written English.

I am especially adept at checking translations from Japanese to English (of many types) because I can check the original Japanese if something is unclear. However, for other languages, we can be having an ongoing conversation if there are things I need to understand better about what you want to say, and Google Translate is sometimes helpful for word-for-word meanings, so I am certain I can do well with other source languages as well.

I have had the privilege of proofreading a few theses and academic papers by both native and non-native speakers.

I taught conversational English in Japan for over twelve years, and many of my students told me my ability to explain grammar and other facets of English was clear and helpful for their learning and ability to use the language better.

There is little I enjoy more than making written English the best it can be, and as matched to its purpose as possible.

Work Terms

I actually work in a factory full time during the week. I can work on any projects in the evenings and on weekends. This can sometimes mean my turn-around time might become slightly longer than you may wish, but I will be honest up front about what my schedule is, and I will finish within the agreed upon time frame.

Paypal would be my first choice for payment. Other arrangements can be made.

Communication is best done through e-mail. I am unreachable by phone during the day. Skype is a possibility, if the time is arranged beforehand (by e-mail). Line is also a possibility, with the same caveat.
