About

Independent professional film composer and music producer: start-to-finish original soundtracks for film and television.

A Juilliard- and Rice-trained film composer of keen versatility and immense narrative subtlety, Daniel specializes in creating complete film score soundtracks from start to finish—including composing, arranging, orchestrating, midi sequencing, mixing/mastering, and much more.

With years of prior experience in producing electronic music and integrating it with live vocals--as well as composing acoustic music--Daniel primarily uses Cubase and Sibelius for his work and employs top-notch sound libraries for his MIDI sequencing. Daniel is especially unique for his versatility and ability to handle an exceptionally wide range of film scoring situations and narrative elements.

Daniel is extremely passionate about narrative in film composing, from large-scale plot arc micros to small, in-the-moment details of timing and symbolism in film. He additionally possesses strong communication and collaboration skills (having worked as a high school writing counselor), skills that optimize his working relationship with other members of any film production team.

Among Daniel’s awards are:

—The Belvedere Chamber Music Festival Composition Competition
—The Phyllis Burnell and Garrett Rezeau Tucker, Jr. Endowed Scholarship in Music
—The Davidson Fellows Scholarship
—The American Composers Forum NextNotes Composition Competition
—The Yale Bassett Award for Community Engagement

Work Terms

My preferred payment is not based on hourly work (as that can be highly variable depending on the kind of music to be written), but rather based on total project length and budget (i.e. desired music quality).

On average, I will typically charge a negotiable fee of $795 to score each hour of a film (assuming that approximately one-half to three-quarters of this length will contain a continuous music soundtrack), and I will spend approximately one week on each fifteen to twenty minutes of music.
